The kitchen is usually one of the last places anyone would consider when thinking about saving money.  If you're creative there are many things that you can do to make life a lot easier for you and your family in the kitchen. Speaking of family, don't be afraid to share your knowledge with your family so they will be just as frugal, especially children...after all isn't one of our main responsibilities to raise them to be smart, innovative and thrifty.

Make things yourself
One of the ways many of us can save money is by making things ourselves.  Snacks do not usually come to mind when you think about making things yourself.  If you have children, this is something you and your children can participate in together.  Here is a simple recipe for peanut butter cookies that is quick and economical.

1 cup of peanut butter (regular or crunchy)
1 cup of sugar
1 egg

Beat egg in a small cup (to mix it up).  Pour sugar, and egg into a mixing bowl and mix together. Finally, add the peanut butter.  After the mixure resembles a smooth creamy texture, take some of the mixture and roll it into a ball and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Continue this procedure until mixture is gone. Bake at 350 degrees or until cookie is the desired color for you (some like their cookies a little on the burnt side!).  Either way, when finished, which is usually about 6-8 minutes, you'll have your cookies!

Sounds simple doesn't it?  It is! But I guarantee you, these turn out to be the best peanut butter cookies you've ever tasted.  When I first saw this recipe, I thought "no way could these turn out to be cookies, any kind of cookies let alone peanut butter cookies!  Search the internet for other inexpensive snacks for your family. Popcorn, home made peanut brittle, Rice Krispie bars...all inexpensive and tend to be things that you have already in your home to begin with.

Saving on snacks is just one way to keep you on that road to cosmetic surgery...don't lose sight now!
