died from diabetes complications. It is sad.

Yeah, yeah, my friend had horrible
complications from gastric bypass, including
two weeks in an induced coma afterwards. :(
Okay, personally I'm listening: I'll skip
the M&Ms today, and now I feel rotten for
buying all that chocolate for someone...

being fat is a disability? i thought it was a
modifiable condition which one has some
control over, should they have the will
power.
it's not like she's missing a limb because
of a car accident or something.
People like to say it's
"glandular" or "genetic"
but I think the success of gastric bypass
surgery (forced decrease in calorie intake
without change in glands or genetics) would
seem to prove otherwise.

Well, i'm not an MD, and I don't know if
obesity is considered a disability by the
NIH. Mal or Boris or some other MD could say.
What I do know is that I was clinically
morbidly obese 6 years ago, then lost 40% of
my weight, and since put a little back on now
so I have personal experience.
Being fat, in my experience, is a
modifiable condition. I suspect that some
people are genetically predisposed with a
lower metabolism than others, which only
means they need to be more active physically
and monitor their intake more vigorously than
others.
I've been shocked at the number of obese
people Malingering has photographed in LA. I
had a misconception that LA had a lower than
average number of obese people relative to
the nation.
It's going to have to be addressed more
aggressively as an American culture though.
We're going to have massive problems with
obesity related health care costs on top of
taking care of the baby boomers, not to
mention the economic impact on productivity
(yes, i'm saying in general fat people are
less productive; more apt to miss work due to
health problems, and in general will have
less stamina and less mental focus for long
periods of time).
Hopefully Malingering and Boris would
concur that obesity is a phyical AND
psychological condition and that both the
body and mind need to be treated for
successful physical and mental modification.
But listen, I'm gonna chuckle at anyone
that wears poorly chosen, misfitting, and
generally rediculous clothing. If you don't
like it, don't look at it.

middle age have high levels of body fat as
measured by a skinfold test or who fall into
the “obese” category of body mass index (BMI)
have an increased risk of developing dementia

for men. The relationship between these
factors and dementia held up even when the
researchers adjusted their analysis to make

I am happy she is out walking around having
fun. I think most people of that size would
just stay inside sad, getting worse- she is
out having fun, looking around, being active-
who knows she may in the first stage of
getting healthy eating right.. maybe in a
year she'll be thinner. I hope for her
health she is starting something good and
this was her first day of her new life. :)

The vast majourity of these comments are
truely sad.
The real facts are that some people are in
fact .... often never diagnosed... actually
morbidly obese as a result of addiction.
Eating to the extremes that cause extreme
obesity is usually an eating disorder that is
connected with mental illness.
Just as anorexia requires professional
intervention and support so do a lot of
morbidly obese people.
Some of these comments are stunningly cruel
and inhumane.
I hope none of you suffer any illnesses or
disabilities for the rest of your lives
...... especially if humanity is going to
treat you like this.

I have commented on this image months ago,
its been posted that much I cannot be
bothered to look back that far, but I will
say its so easy to judge, so dont judge at
all, no experience to this extent entailed.
It is bad that someone can get like this, but
not for our eyes, but for them, its their
choice, so be it. Yes people can get fat many
ways, its not all to do with just eating big

if you have a mexican mom that was poor in
mexico, came to america (legally i might add)
and has children. she will want to give them
anything she never could have. this includes
whatevr they want to eat.
if you are raised on fat food since you were
a baby... then it IS hard to lose weight and
get a taste for healthy food. im better off
because i do manage the taste well. but my
fiance says there is no way i can get him to
eat veggies. but i'll try somehow. im gonna
have to sneak them in.
i WILL so give my kids a better chancE!!! i
will try to raise on good food not
hamburgers,pizza and french fries!
i was and thats why my taste prefers pizza
over anything else
my fave food is pizza and i crave it
sometimes but now since im away at college
and with no money haha
i eat less waaayy less! im glad im not home
with mom!!
my bro is, and probably eat wendys alot cuz
my mom is a manager and so free wendys for
us. and my bro likes bacon too much so yea
food addiction is no joke. i have felt the
fun of eating alot. and when u have someone
that loves you unconditionally, its so easy
to feel happy with your life. im happy with
