Sounds simple enough...an implant to make your ass look bigger and shapelier than what it is!  Is that all there is to it?  I'd like to say yes it's that easy however there are several things you may want to look into before considering having Buttocks implants.  What are some of the things that can go wrong?  How have others fared with this procedure?

What is a Buttocks Implant or Buttocks Augmentation?  Technically, it's known as Aumentation Gluteoplasty.  Buttocks Augmentation is a surgical procedure to increase the size and shape of the Buttocks.  Both females and males may opt for this surgery.  

Why Would Anyone Want a Buttocks Implant or Augmentation?

Here are a few reasons why some may undergo a Buttocks implant and or Augmentation:

* To increase buttocks volume caused by poorly developed muscles

* To achieve firmness and definition of the buttocks region

* To obtain a mild buttocks lifting effect

What Can Go Wrong?

Now that you understand what it is;  What are the down sides of having this procedure?  Most of the time, when you visit a doctor's office they are proud to show you their "wall of fame", lots of beautiful pictures of the "After" surgery.  I'd be proud too if I were good at what I did, I'd want to show it off.  But what about failures?  There is a reason why doctors dare not share with the general public how many failed surgeries they are responsible for or are involved with directly.

* Wrong Implants used along with incorrect technique:

Many doctors who are not experienced in this area will make the mistake of using solid silicone implants, placing them under the skin; this approach is sure to produce great discomfort along with the possiblility of displacement or movement of the implants.  There have even been reports of some inexperienced or uneducated doctors using breast im

plants as Buttocks implants!  Can you imagine waking up and seeing that? {The correct way would be to place soft cohesive gel implants among medius and maximus gluteous muscles, they will remain trapped in between the muscles thereby minimizing the risk of displacement or movement}.

* Constant Pain:

A woman in NewPort/Knoxville, TN reported that after her procedure, she has had nothing but pain.  When she bends over it hurts.  When she's driving in the car or sitting for a while at home it hurts.  She stated that not only do they "not look right", they also feel as though they are laying on a nerve.  Not only is she dealing with constant pain...they have begun to droop.  She states: "You can move it all the way around.  You can stick your hand up and under it.  One side is completely bigger than the other". The doctor did tell her that after five or six years they could start falling.  It's only been months for this young lady.  Buttocks Augmentation/Implant surgery is one of the most complex of all cosmetic surgeries.  Some doctors even refuse to do it due to complications and patient dissatisfaction.

What to find out Before having Buttocks Implants

As with any kind of surgery, the first thing you would want to know is if the doctor you're trusting your life with is a Board Certified Plastic surgeon.  Find out what his experience is with this particular type of procedure.  It would be very disappointing if you found out that your doctor does wonderful face lifts but you're his first Buttocks Implant patient!  It is true, someone does have to be first...but it shouldn't be you!  You want someone who knows what they're doing and is up to date on the latests techniques.  How many other patients has he operated on prior to you?  Does he have pictures of his work?  Will he mind if you contact one of his patients as a reference? (Some Doctors will balk at this citing doctor-patient privacy etc., but if he's proud of his work and has pictures of these same people, then he shouldn't mind you asking at least one of them a question or two.  A Doctor who knows the dangers and isn't afraid to tell you what they are, is someone who has confidence in his abilities.  Remember, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
